Elizabeth Warren: Luring Dems Back into the War Machine
Elizabeth Warren may be the next confidence trick
Smarting over their congressional losses, establishment Democrats are tinkering with the structure of their party to lure disenchanted progressives back into the fold.
Politico reports that incoming Democrats and their leader, Senate minority leader Harry Reid, are wooing the progressive firebrand and freshman from Massachusetts, Elizabeth Warren, and may create a special leadership post for her.
The idea is to empower the liberal caucus as it gears up to do ideological battle with the Republican majority in Congress beginning in January.
Democrats and Republicans, despite the rhetoric, are nearly identical when it comes to promoting and empowering the war machine. Warren is a standard barrier for the war on manufactured terror and also favors a continuation of the surveillance grid.
“We need to continue our aggressive efforts against Al Qaeda, and we need to continue to support the efforts of our intelligence, law enforcement, homeland security, and military professionals.”
Democrats, Republicans and neocons march in lockstep on support for Israel and its attempt to build a consensus on attacking Iran. Warren is no exception. She follows the war script and accepts without question its lies, distortions and fabrications:
Iran is a significant threat to the United States and our allies. Iran is pursuing nuclear weapons, it is an active state sponsor of terrorism, and its leaders have consistently challenged Israel’s right to exist. Iran’s pursuit of nuclear weapons is unacceptable because a nuclear Iran would be a threat to the United States, our allies, the region, and the world. The United States must take the necessary steps to prevent Iran from acquiring a nuclear weapon. I support strong sanctions against Iran and believe that the United States must also continue to take a leadership role in pushing other countries to implement strong sanctions as well. Iran must not have an escape hatch.
In other words, Warren favors levying crippling economic sanctions on the people of Iran, who have done nothing to the United States, under the wholly fantastic pretense, repeatedly demonstrated false, that their government is developing nuclear weapons.
Hope and Change 2.0
Warren’s special position carved out by the Democrat leadership should be viewed as a signal that she may be groomed to run for president. Many Democrat voters have expressed displeasure with Hillary Clinton and, when 2016 rolls around, if Warren is selected they will undoubtedly support her based solely on her socialist political cred while ignoring her foreign policy statements.
This is how Obama won the election. He waved the antiwar flag and gullible Democrats bought it hook, line and sinker. Once in office, Obama continued the policies of his predecessor, policies largely put in place by the Bush neocons who dominated the Pentagon.
Warren will do the same while placating the masses with token Wall Street and financial sector reforms. These reforms will be, of course, purely cosmetic.
Instead of calling for the elimination of the Federal Reserve, the very engine driving the looting and destruction of the U.S. economy, Warren wants to continue regulating the bankster cartel posing as a federal agency.
Back in September, 2013, she was gaga over the current Fed boss, Janet Yellen. “Janet Yellen, I hope, will make a terrific federal reserve chair,” Warren said. “I hope she’s nominated. She has great experience, she has great judgment. I think she would make a terrific Federal Reserve chair.”
The nomination of Yellen, Peter J. Boettke warned in October of 2013, would result in “more of the same policies that have made the U.S. a virtually bankrupt nation.”
“Oh, you want more?” writes Patrick Barron. “That pretty much sums up why we shouldn’t expect much from the new chairman of the Federal Reserve System. This administration and this Congress will never admit anyone that is not of the Keynesian-School-of-economics persuasion.”
They will also not admit someone who does not support the war machine driven by the financial elite and the military-industrial complex.
Elizabeth Warren may be the next confidence trick. Like Obama, she does not represent change. She represents the status quo.
