“We would be glad to take them to a local movie theater, but happened to get a much better deal by going to Edison 8 rather than Coralwood,” said Parks and Recreation Director Steve Pohlman.
Pohlman says the camps often take kids to other parts of Lee County.
“Having trips like this is part of the cultural experience kids have in a day camp,” Pohlman said.
There is one thing councilmember Rana Erbrick says the kids shouldn’t experience.
“It’s concerning to me that these folks may have been following some of our summer camp kids,” Erbrick said.
She says the group is getting bolder, even comparing council members to mobsters.
The question must be asked is why is the city a “for-profit’ corporation.” Also, who owns the city “corporation?”
“If your cause is right, just and makes sense people will join you, you don’t have to use these scare tactics,” Erbrick said.
