Subject: A Few Thoughts
The Martin/Zimmerman trial is over and it has certainly riled up our liberal friends and their supporters in the press…but, was justice done?
William Blackstone, father of British and American jurisprudence said it is better a guilty man be set free than an innocent man be convicted…thus we have the “Reasonable Doubt” standard.
With no true eyewitnesses, and with the forensic evidence and Zimmerman’s injuries supporting the story he has told from the beginning and applying the reasonable doubt standard, the verdict seems just to me.
One interesting part of the story is the role reversal aspect of the dialog and the responses of those on both sides of the verdict.
Those of us supporting the verdict were probably astonished that a jury acquitted O. J. Simpson of double homicide and were vocal in our condemnation of the jury’s decision as a mockery of justice.
Those rejoicing in O. J.’s acquittal as proof…using the reasonable doubt standard…a black man could get a fair trial in America, are today in the streets demanding justice for Trayvon Martin.
The one significant difference in the way the two groups have responded; those disappointed in the O. J. verdict did not riot and throw a temper tantrum.
This tendency of the liberal community to turn violent, to bully and attempt to intimidate when they don’t get their way (remember the Occupy Wall Street movement?) is a real challenge to free republic.
By comparison, the Tea Party movement has never once been guilty of the kind of temper tantrums so routinely associated with the left.
We can hope and pray that our right to peaceful assembly and protest is not lost in the violence so often demonstrated by the left when they cannot win on the weight of the facts in evidence.
What follows are a few thoughts concerning the current state of politics in America. Please forward this newsletter to your social media circle and be sure and visit our website http://www.inspireandignite.com. As usual, your comments are a vital part of keeping us focused and in tune with your positions on the issues we address.
Have you ever been duped by a slight of hand artist?
In the classic upset of all time, unknown Boise State beat mighty Oklahoma in a BCS Bowl game with a classic misdirection football play.
Our administration is masterful at the misdirection play. After Benghazi they turned our attention to a Youtube video rather than allow focus on the failures at the White House and State.
When the IRS is caught red handed targeting the president’s political opponents with delays and threats and unjustified audits, they offer up two rogue agents in Cincinnati to misdirect the focus and keep the spotlight off the White House.
When we learn that NSA is spying on millions of Americans in direct violation of the constitution, what does the White House do? They misdirect the focus to Edward Snowden calling him a traitor and filling the news with his latest travel plans.
If Snowden is a traitor or a hero is beside the point…the real issue is a lawless administration spying on its own citizens.
THE IRS BUDGET
Have you heard the House is preparing to cut the IRS budget for next year by 25%?
This cut would do three things: reign in the reckless spending the IRS IG noted in his most recent report…discipline the agency for its lawless pursuit of the president’s political opponents…and, most importantly, defund the 15,000 new IRS agents scheduled to be hired to insure you and I are complying with Obamacare insurance requirements.
Those are all good things, but the liberals object. Nita Lowey, senior Democrat on the committee complained, “How will we collect the revenue the government needs to operate without a fully funded IRS?” implying the need for force to collect taxes.
However, the president has waived the employer mandates in Obamacare and is prepared to rely on the honor system when people show up to apply for benefits.
If we are going to rely on the honor system when we give away taxpayer money…it seems only right we should rely on the honor system when we take taxpayer money.
TYRANNY AROUND EVERY CORNER
Is this administration and its out-of-control federal bureaucracy a threat to our liberty?
Recently, the President said to the graduating class at Ohio State University “Unfortunately, you’ve grown up hearing voices incessantly warn (that) government…is the root of all our problems. They’ll warn that tyranny is lurking just around the corner. You should reject those voices.”
He reportedly said it with a straight face while his National Security Agency was unconstitutionally spying on millions of Americans collecting personal phone and internet data. He said it while his administration was requesting a 71% increase in NSA authority to monitor American citizens.
He said it while his IRS agency was punishing his political opponents with unlawful delays and intimidating intrusions into their personal records.
When a majority of Americans in a recent Rasmussen poll believe that their own government is a greater threat to freedom than terrorism, perhaps the President is right…We should reject those voices”…tyranny is NOT lurking just around the corner…tyranny is knocking on our front door right now.
A TRANSFORMATIVE PRESIDENT
Do you remember President Obama saying he wanted to be remembered as a transformative president? He has been remarkably successful.
He has transformed America from a strong proud nation…the beacon of freedom into a beggar nation $17 trillion dollars in debt and where more Americans receive food assistance from the government than actually work in the private sector.
He has transformed us from the world’s only super power to a nation that leads from behind and is being humiliated by Afghanistan, Russia, Egypt, Syria, Iran and North Korea…to name a few.
He declared America was not a Christian nation and he proved it by codifying immoral behavior in American law, funding abortion on demand and attacking the religious conscience of millions of Christians when they objected.
He has made a mockery of his oath of office by refusing to defend our borders, refusing to enforce laws with which he disagrees and unilaterally changing others to suit his purposes.
Ladies and gentlemen, this aint your grandfather’s America any more.
Have you ever played “whack-a-mole at a local arcade? You face a table with several holes cut in it, moles poke up through the holes quickly and randomly. You are given a mallet. The object of the game is to whack as many moles in the head as you can.
Our president’s agenda resembles this game with his dizzying array of bad policies and scandals and conservatives must whack as many in the head as possible.
From the Heads of Justice and NSA lying to Congress and IRS spokesmen pleading fifth amendment protection to impede Congressional oversight, to Obamacare’s myriad of issues…from immigration reform and border security…to the administration’s trillion dollar assault on the non-existent threat of global warming…from the administration’s incessant attack on the constitutional authority of Congress to their disdain for states’ rights, one can feel some empathy for the conservatives in Congress. Going to work every day must feel a lot like showing up for duty at the Alamo…especially with the press on Santa Anna’s side.
THE MONGOL HORDES
Do you remember the history of Genghis Khan and his Mongol hordes? This barbarian and his uneducated armies laid waste to the Roman Empire, toppled civilization and ushered the dark ages.
In many ways the liberals and their allies…the low information voters and the Occupy Wall Street thugs resemble Genghis Khan and his barbarian hordes. Two quotes from Khan summarize the liberal assault on all things American.
“The greatest happiness is to vanquish your enemies…to rob them of their wealth (and) to see those dear to them bathed in tears.” Perhaps even more instructive, he said, “It is not sufficient that I succeed…all others must fail.”
It is interesting that a significant percentage of Obama’s low information supporters believe the government should closely monitor the tea parties…..
Not reported is the fact Tea Party members don’t give a hoot what the ill informed Obama hordes think of the Tea Party movement…but they are concerned about the impact the growing number of ignorant voters is having on our future.
Thanks again for your support! Stay engaged in the battle, 2014 will be a critical election as it is possible that we can regain control of the Senate and retain control of the House thereby nullifying a good portion of this president’s dangerous agenda.
